Zandvoort - best beach in North Holland Print E-mail

Zandvoort is best known for its beach. A vast expanse of sandy beach stretching over nine kilometres. And an average of 100 metres wide. Plenty of space for recreational activities. Sailing, surfing and beach volleyball. And for relaxing, for example, in one of the 41 beach cafés right on the beach. Here you can eat, drink and seek shelter from the breeze blowing in from the sea. Because Zandvoort has three kilometres of glassed-in outdoor terraces along the beach. Two beach cafés are open year round.

Blue Flag
Since May 2004, Zandvoort has been proud to fly the Blue Flag again. This flag is the international symbol for clean and safe beaches. To be awarded this flag, Zandvoort had to meet numerous requirements. These criteria concern, among other things: the quality of the swimming water, good facilities, the availability of a First Aid Post, rescue equipment and facilities for handicapped people.

Official kitesurfspots

It's safe for you to kitesurf in Zandvoort. On the beach are three official spots where you can go in- and out- of the water;

* At beachclub Riche
* At beachclub The Spot and rescue squad North
* Around the watersportassociation and the rescue squad

All the spots are marked with signs. These will be moved during low- and high tide.
