Below you are presented with an alfabetically sorted list of all 443 municipalities in The Netherlands in 2007 and also in 2008, with their number of inhabitants (the definitive figures as per 1-1-2007 according to the CBS, the Central Bureau for Statistics) .The link in the name of the province brings you to another, extended list of all townships, hamlets, villages, cities, population centers, inhabited resorts, etc. Names of parts of towns and quarters or districts of a city are gradually being added.

All provinces of the Netherlands are divided into municipalities (gemeenten), together 441 (2009).Recent politics have led to a great number of mergers between smaller municipalities or with cities, a process which will continue in the future (with a few mergers set to occur on 2009-01-01 and 2010-01-01). On 15 December 2008 Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius will become part of the Netherlands per se with a status equivalent to that of municipalities.
