The Hague is the governmental and political center of the Netherlands. The Hague has 600,000 inhabitants and is situated on the west part of the country, 50km's south of Amsterdam and 30km's west of Rotterdam. The Hague accommodates the Royal Palace and holds most of the administrative offices of the country. The city is close to an area full of dunes with a magnificent sandy coast. The place is called Scheveningen.
The Hague has the largest square in Europe, Lange Voorhout. The surrounding area is mainly old styled and during the evening everything is illuminated making the atmosphere very cosy and romantic! Every Thursday, there is a big antique market on the square. Another famous main market worth viewing, is the Herman Costersquare where one can buy food and things from the West-Indies to Indonesia.
