TEFAF Loan exhibition

In 2014, TEFAF will host a magnificent loan exhibition of around thirty-five drawings from the National Graphic Arts Collection, Munich (Staatliche Graphische Sammlung, Munchen), one of the world’s leading collections of prints and drawings.  The exhibition, entitled Timeless Beauty, will be held in the TEFAF Paper section. The selection of images, which all focus on the female form, stretches from the 15th to the 20th centuries and includes work from the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain and France. The exhibition not only provides a survey of depictions of women from over six centuries but also gives visitors the chance to view a number of rarely seen images by a range of European masters including work by Andrea Mantegna (1431-1506), Martin Schongauer (1445/50-1491), Matthias Gunewald (1470/80-1528), Federico Barocci (1535-1612), Henrick Goltzius (1558-1617) and Rembrandt van Rijn (1606 -1669) to drawings executed by some of the greatest artists of the 19th and 20th centuries including Henri Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901), Eduard Manet (1832-1883), Auguste Rodin (1840-1917),  Gustav Klimt (1862-1918), Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), Max Beckman (1884-1950) and Egon Schiele (1890-1918).
Art Market Report

The TEFAF Art Market Report is respected for its independent research and contribution to the understanding of the art market.  The 2014 report commissioned by TEFAF and written by Dr. Clare McAndrew will have a special focus on the United States.    Despite the dramatic changes in the market’s geographical infrastructure over the last decade, the US remains the dominant global market and the report will be looking at why it has retained this position and bounced back so strongly from the contraction in the market in 2009.  It will analyze the key strengths in the market, both from the point of view of the art trade and collectors, as well as the main threats and potential weaknesses it is currently facing.  Although New York remains the dominant market for sales, the report will also look at the performance of such markets as Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago and regions in the South, focusing particularly on how wealth dynamics have contributed to important centers of art buying across the nation.  It will also examine why, despite great changes in global wealth, the US is still by far the largest market for art collecting internationally.
Art Symposium

The Art Symposium was first launched at TEFAF in 2012, as part of its Silver Jubilee programme.   Its success spawned a second version 2013, which provoked an equally enthusiastic response.   In 2014 the focus of the symposium will fall on design and the event is entitled Addicted to vintage: trends in 20th-century design.
TEFAF Showcase

TEFAF Showcase gives recently established galleries the opportunity to participate in TEFAF Maastricht and experience being part of an international art event.   It also introduces visitors to the Fair to some of the most interesting emerging galleries.   The invitation to exhibit is for one year only.  This year’s six Showcase exhibitors come from Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom: between them, they cover a wide range of fine and decorative arts from Old Master painting and sculpture; modern and contemporary art; vintage photography to Kunstkammer objects; Japanese art and 20th-century decorative arts.
