Visit Holland - The Netherlands
Love is the thema for the exhibition From Holland With Love that is on show from march 9 until may 19 2012 in the Nederlands Fotomuseum.
The exhibition is built around the photos from Ed van der Elsken and includes photos, video installations and movies that on a contemporary way reflects aspects of his works.
Love, friendship, intimicy, romance, erotics and lust excite the viewer at a very personal and sometimes humorous way. Van der Elsken's work is the startingpoint for a contemporary selection from Dutch imagemagers: Koos Breukel, Ed van der Elsken, Paul Kooiker, A.P Komen & Karen Murphy, Bertien van Manen, Julika Rudelius, Martine Stig, Andrea Stultiens and Useful Photography.
Nederlands Fotomuseum
The Nederlands Fotomuseum showcases photography in the broadest sense of the word, from an artistic form of expression through to a medium of social commentary. The museum has nearly four million negatives, as well as an expert photo restoration studio.
The Nederlands Fotomuseum was once based in the former building of the Nieuwe Rotterdamse Courant newspaper on the Witte de Withstraat in Rotterdam. In April 2007 the museum moved to Las Palmas, the former workshop complex of the Holland-America Line on the Kop van Zuid, the trendy Rotterdam left bank. The collection comprises three million negatives and a large quantity of slides, prints and document, not only embracing the history of Dutch photography, but also presenting more than a century of Dutch history in images. The museum holds varying expositions on all forms of photography throughout the year.
