Visit Holland - The Netherlands
The hotel is located in the former water tower of Dordrecht. Villa Augustus has 37 rooms: 20 rooms in the water tower and 17 rooms in the garden.
Almost every room has a breathtaking view. - Looking out from the north-west facing windows in the water tower, you can see the Wantij and follow a part of the major rivers. The rooms on the other side of the water tower look out across the vegetable garden. And from the rooms in the garden, you can step out, directly into the garden. Enjoy your own set of table and chairs bordering the Italian garden, or looking out across the vegetable patch.-
No two rooms are identical; each has its own special atmosphere, colouring and furnishings. You will find a natural mix of styles, comfortable and homely, which will give you the feeling you are staying with good friends.
In the building some of the original historic materials are preserved. For example, for the panelling in the corridors and at the back of the beds, timber from the original doors of the water tower was used. And the typical iron bottom of the water basin is still visible in the rooms on the fifth floor. Although each room is furnished differently, its centrepiece is formed by a quality bed that has been handpicked.
The bedlinen, duvets and pillows are high-quality – nothing is left to chance.
All rooms have their own bathroom and toilet. Hotel Villa Augustus
The restaurant of Villa Augustus is situated in the middle of the vegetable garden.
A restaurant where the visitor and the employee get in touch with the seasons. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter; in the open kitchen, literally and metaphorically the heart of the restaurant, they ende-avor getting that season on your plate as beautiful as possible. There is a menu with a limited amount of dishes of which a few change weekly so it is never really possible to tell what will be on it and when.
Villa Augustus strives to work with organic or otherwise environmentally friendly produce. Preferably from surrounding districts, but wonderful ingredients from elsewhere in Europe are certainly welcomed!
The pride of the chef is the woodoven which is used to roast or bake a variety of dishes. Fish, pigeons, tomatoes, beets etc etc. Permanent item on the menu is pizza from the woodoven. Every few weeks it changes with the seasons.
On the blackboards above the kitchen you'll find dishes which are only available in small amounts and sometimes change daily. That can be anything that comes from the vegetable garden or nearby. Examples are: gooseberry ice cream, rilettes of wild boar with a plum compote or fresh pea soup.
There is a limited winelist that is composed with great care.
The restaurant can serve groups up to 20 persons. For larger numbers of people function rooms are available. It is possible to eat on the outdoor terrace as well.
